Get Wolf to a Weeping Willow and then Out of Mom's House -

drunxvx:

The idea started like this: Wolfgang Carver is 18 years old and he wants to move out. He works hard seven days a week taking care of animals, reading to three year olds and helping them do art, stocking shelves in a video game store, and making his own art. However, due to overwhelming poor health, including exhaustion and a lot of vomiting, all his work is volunteer only, except for his paintings he sells on ebay. So he can’t afford rent. He will qualify for SSI, but that’s only $700 a month, and due to mental, emotional, and physical difficulties, he will also need a caretaker for a couple hours a day to make sure he takes his medicine, makes his appointments, doesn’t get swindled, takes a shower once in a while. His thoughts are really focused on nature, weather, space, Eden, wisteria trees, sheep, frogs, solar flares, ice storms, black holes, and working on his abs. He doesn’t think he ever wants to get married because women get cranky. He is absolutely satisfied with his life except for two things: he’d like to move into a group home so he doesn’t have to live with his mom, and he’d like to take a trip down South because he’s never seen a weeping willow and he really wants to. New Hampshire does not provide home aides or any services he would need until he is 21. I guess people with special needs are considered children and their parents’ responsibility until 21. But Wolfgang’s health is failing, and I really want to help him meet his two goals (moving out and visiting a weeping willow) this year, because I don’t know what the future holds, but if things keep going like they are, he might be an invalid by the time he’s 21. We found a group home for him in Massachusetts, a state which seems to offer adult services to people who are 18 years old. It would cost $5,000 to have him be partial owner and start him off in the place he wants to go. I figure $500 for Wolf’s weeping willow sojourn. The kind and wonderful Scott Doyle got the idea to have a fundraiser for Wolf this summer to help out in making these things happen sooner than later. Scott suggested an atheist punk rock festival. But Wolf is evangelical Christian and likes country and atmospheric trance music. I was wondering if anyone here plays or knows anyone who plays that kind of music, and other things Wolf would enjoy for the festival. I was thinking maybe people could contribute artwork to be auctioned or something. Or any strange talent anyone has that’s not the offensive kind of entertainment I gravitate towards. Really anything! A day of good clean fun. I brought it up to Wolf, and he was very excited about it. His only suggestion was we could hopefully do something towards getting animals at the shelter he works at adopted, too. ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

hey tumblr, i don’t do this a lot but my friend’s son, wolfgang, would like to move out of her house and live on his own as well as go on a trip to the south to fulfill his dream of seeing a weeping willow. i’ve never met him personally, but lisa is a wonderful woman and from what she’s told me he seems to me as such a great person and artist. if any of you can help, even a dollar would be so appreciated. help wolf fulfill his dreams! there is more information on the facebook page, and please reblog if you want. thank you!

Hey guys, I’m still on a break from tumblr but my friend asked me to help out and spread the word about this. If you guys could help out - either by giving her suggestions about the issues mentioned above, donating, or reblogging this post that would be great and I’m sure they’d appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals in their shelters.
It takes less than a minute (only about 15 seconds actually) to go to their site and click on the purple box titled, ‘Click Here to Give - it’s FREE!’. Every click gives about .6 bowls of food to sheltered dogs. You can also click daily!
Keep in mind that this does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. [via.]

doesn’t cost you a cent, just a click.

Thanks to everyone who’s been supportive this week, I really appreciate it. I need to take a little break from tumblr to process what’s happened but I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and for letting me vent

I can’t believe I posted this a few weeks ago and now he’s gone. I know it was for the best, he was in a lot of pain and it would’ve been selfish to keep him alive, but it’s just really difficult to let go.
